The Author
Kevin Francis Sweeney is a documentary photographer and graphic designer from Texas. He received a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Tulane University and completed a Master of Fine Arts in Computer Art at the School of Visual Arts. He married a Pittsburgh girl, moved to Pittsburgh, and documented his experience of becoming a Pittsburgh Steelers fan during their second Super Bowl era.
Kevin launched sixteensundays.com in 2004 as a photoblog for his project documenting Pittsburgh Steelers fans. Photographs from Sixteen Sundays have been the topic of several television and magazine features. The first exhibition of images was part of “Connecting Pittsburgh,” a survey of Pittsburgh photographers that toured the Czech Republic in 2010.
Besides photography Sweeney has worked in advertising, interactive design, and taught workshops in documentary photography and photo book design. His work had been shown in several group exhibitions in New York, Florida, Texas, Pittsburgh, Spain, and the Czech Republic. Kevin received a grant from Pittsburgh Filmmakers in 2005. He currently lives in Austin, Texas.
